Hitachi Energy Gets ₹160 Cr. Traction Transformer Order from Indian Railways
Hitachi Energy India Ltd. in a statement on 19th January 2022 announced that company has secured an order valued at ₹160 crore from Indian Railways for supplying traction transformers to be used in passenger and freight locomotives. The order was placed by locomotive manufacturers, Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW) and Patiala Locomotive Works (formerly Diesel Loco Modernisation Works) during October-December, 2021.
These transformers will facilitate power supply for train traction systems, and other essential functions including lighting, braking, signalling, ventilation and communication.
This order falls in line with the Indian Railways’ goal of 100% electrification of broad-gauge routes by 2023, and reducing its carbon footprint. By 2030, Indian Railways strives to be a net-zero carbon emitter.
