Lapp Introduces new CAT 5e Cables for Robotic Applications

Lapp India, manufacturers of power, control, data and instrumentation cables, has introduced its new type-R cable ETHERLINE ROBOT PN Cat.5e for robotic applications.
Requirement for ‘type-R’ Cables
There are certain requirements for a cable to be considered type-R suitable for use in robotic applications.
- 5 million vertical torsion cycles at ±180° per metre
- 5 million cycles in the horizontal cable chain at accelerations of up to 10 m/s² and speeds of 3 m/s over a travel distance of 5 m
- 1 million bends in the alternating bending test in accordance to EN 50396 (In this test the cable is bent in a radius of 7 times the outer diameter of the cable and is then tested for end to to end continuity of signal
Physical Features of Lapp’s type-R Cable
ETHERLINE ROBOT PN Cat.5e cable has an external diameter of 6.5 mm. It can withstand temperatures of -40°C to +80°C. The data rate offered is up to 100 Mbps. It is suitable for industrial data cabling within or on a robot. The peak operating voltage is 125 Volts but is not suitable for power connectivity applications.
