Ashoka Buildon Receives LoA worth Rs. 1,391 Cr. for Kharagpur – Siliguri Expressway

Ashoka Buildcon Limited has received a Letter of Award (LoA) from National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) for constructing a 4-lane economic corridor in West Bengal at an estimated cost of Rs. 1,391 crore. The company was declared Lowest (L1) bidder for this project in November 2024.

Scope of work in this project includes construction of the highway corridor connecting Bowaichandi to Guskara-Katwa road section, extending from Km 89.814 to Km 133.000 on NH 116A. This project will be executed under package 3 of Kharagpur – Siliguri Economic Corridor (part of the Bharatmala Pariyojana). Ashoka Buildcon will be responsible for executing this project under Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM)* within a period of 910 days ( 2 years and 6 months).

Kharagpur – Siliguri Expressway is a 516 Km under-construction 4 lane access-controlled highway project designed to enhance efficiency of freight movement and boost exports growth with better port connectivity. This project will connect Kharagpur, which is situated west of Kolkata, to Bagdogra passing through cities and towns including Ghatal, Arambagh, Burdwar, Nabadwib, Plassey, Behrampore, Farakka, Malda, Raiganj, Kishanganj, and Islampur. Considerig the significance of Siliguri corridor in connecting the rest of India to its North-Eastern part, Kharagpur-Siliguri Economic corridor assumes prime importance.

*Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM) refers to a mode of Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) wherein the government and the private player share project expenses in a 40:60 ratio respectively. After the private player develops the project, it is handed over to the government. The government pays a fixed annuity to the private player for a certain amount of time as defined in the contract.
