POWERGRID Appoints Burra Vamsi Rama Mohan as Chairman and Managing Director

Power Grid Corporation of India (POWERGRID or PGCIL) has appointed Mr. Burra Vamsi Rama Mohan as its Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) with effect from April 1, 2026. Before this, he was serving as Director (Projects) at the company.

He has more than 33 years of experience in the power transmission and telecom sectors and has held several senior roles at POWERGRID. His work has covered areas such as projects, procurement, commercial operations, regulatory matters, asset management, and telecom.

Mr. Vamsi was also part of the founding team of POWERGRID’s regulatory cell, where he contributed to matters related to the power sector’s regulatory framework. As CEO of POWERGRID Teleservices Limited, he was involved in expanding the company’s telecom business and worked on the development of its first data centre project. During his tenure as Director (Projects), the company reported its highest capitalisation and capital expenditure.

He holds a degree in Engineering and has completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Planning and Project Management, along with a postgraduate diploma in Management from the Management Development Institute, Gurugram.
