SECI Floats Tender for 800 MW BESS Projects in India

Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) has invited bids to develop 800 MW/3,200 MWh of Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS)-connected standalone Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects across India. Interested bidders can submit their bids until 30th October 2026.

These projects will be developed on a Build, Own and Operate (BOO) basis.

As per the tender, bidders will submit bids for a minimum capacity of 50 MW/200 MWh and a maximum capacity of 800 MW/3,200 MWh. The selected developers will set up, operate, and maintain the BESS and supply stored energy to the designated buying entities. Scope of work will also include identifying suitable land, installing and owning the projects, obtaining necessary approvals, and securing connectivity to the ISTS, State Transmission Utility (STU), or Intra-State Transmission System (InSTS) network, as applicable.

Additionally, developers will be required to arrange charging power for the BESS projects, with at least 51% of the energy sourced from Renewable Energy (RE) sources.
