Welspun Enterprises Limited, part of Welspun group, in a stock exchange filling on 28th May 2022 informed about receipt of an order from Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to build wastewater treatment facility at Dharavi. The estimated cost of the project is around Rs. 4,636 Crore.
Welspun to Design, Build and Operate Dharavi Wastewater Treatment facility
Welspun Enterprises Ltd. has formed a 80:20 JV with EDAC Engineering for execution of this project. The scope of work includes design, build, operation and maintenance of 418 MLD Dharavi Wastewater Treatment Facility along with 209 MLD Tertiary treatment facility under Mumbai Sewage Disposal Project, Stage II.
The time period assigned to complete the design and build of aforementioned scope of work is 60 months. Welspun will also provide further 15 years of operation and maintenance for this facility.
Welspun Order Book Crosses INR 12,500 Crore Mark with Dharavi Wastewater Facility Order
With the award of Dharavi Wastewater Treatment Facility order, Welspun Enterprises outstanding order book has reached around Rs. 12,500 crore as of 28th. Water infrastructure sector orders have contributed around Rs 6,500 crore to the order book and the balance Rs. 6,000 crore orders are from road sector.
Expressing his views on the development Mr. B. K. Goenka, Chairman, Welspun Group said “This is the single highest value order so far for the Company in the most essential sector of Water Infrastructure in India. This Project for one of the largest wastewater treatment facilities in India is a significant step in the direction of achieving Swachh Mumbai, Maharashtra and Bharat and we are extremely happy to be part of this journey.”
He further informed that Welspun Enterprises has been working towards increasing average order value, and with the Dharavi Wastewater order the average contract value has become more than Rs. 2,000 crore. This will help Welspun to scale for improved operational efficiency.
Welspun, in an investor presentation disclosed that as on March 31, 2022, its investments across various projects amounted to around Rs. 2,204 crores. In this HAM (HYBRID ANNUITY MODEL) Road Portfolio contributed Rs. 1,018 crore, Road BOT (Build Operate Transfer) projects contributed Rs. 629 crore, Water BOT projects contributed Rs. 92 crore, Oil & Gas projects investment stood at Rs 393 crore, and other assets contributed Rs. 72 crore.
