Made in India Drones Showcased at Bharat Drone Mahotsav 2022
Two-day Bharat Drone Mahotsav was held at Delhi’s Pragati Maidan from 27th May to 28th May 2022. The Mahotsav was inaugurated by the Indian Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi, who gave 150 remote pilot certificates during the event.
About 1,600 delegates attended the event, which included government officials, foreign diplomats, armed forces, central armed police forces, people from Public Sector Units (PSUs), private companies and drone startups. Over 70 exhibitors displayed drones at the event.
Talking about the future of the drone industry, Union Aviation Minister, Jyotiraditya Scindia said, “It is estimated that the drone industry will reach ₹15,000 crore turnover by the year 2026. Today, there are 270 drones startups in India”. In September 2021, the Ministry of Civil Aviation, GoI had approved a Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for the drone industry.
