NHAI Floats Tenders for Greenfield Varanasi-Ranchi-Kolkata Highway

National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has floated tenders for greenfield six-lane Varanasi-Ranchi-Kolkata Highway under the Bharatmala Pariyojana.

One of the tenders has a value of Rs. 988.24 crore, and entails construction of a 27 Km long section of the highway. This section connects the junction of NH-19 and Varanasi Ring Road at Rewasa, Uttar Pradesh to the Chandauli-Cainpur road near Khainti Village in Bihar, and will be executed in Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM)*.

NHAI has also invited bids for another 27 Km long section of this highway, connecting the Chandauli-Cainpur road near Khainti Village to Bhabhua-Adhaura Road near Palka village in Bihar. This section will also be developed in HAM. Estimated value of this tender is Rs. 945.24 crore.

Last date for submission of bids for these tenders is 28th December 2022.

*Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM) refers to a mode of Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) wherein the government and the private player share the project expenses in a 40:60 ratio respectively. After the private player develops the project, it is handed over to the government. The government pays a fixed annuity to the private player for a certain amount of time as defined in the contract.
