L&T Construction Bags Orders between 2,500 to 5,000 Cr. from Chennai Metro

Larsen & Toubro, an Indian engineering, construction and manufacturing multinational company, has bagged Large* orders from its Heavy Civil Infrastructure business in India. The combined value of these orders is said to be between Rs. 2,500 to Rs. 5,000 crore.

L&T has secured an order from Chennai Metro Rail Corporation Limited* (CMRL) to construct 12 Km Twin Bored tunnels from Kellys station to Taramani Road Junction station.

Project scope of work involves “construction of diaphragm walls of station box and entry / exit structures of Chetpet Metro, Royapettah Govt. Hospital, Thiruvanmiyur Metro Stations and part diaphragm wall of Greenways Road Metro Station, including launching and retrieval shafts in these stations” as mentioned in the press release of L&T dated 14th May 2021.

This package is part of Corridor 3 of CMRL Phase-II Metro Rail Project and is to be constructed in approximately 52 months.

L&T has secured another order from CMRL, which involves construction of approx 8 Km of elevated Viaduct with 9 elevated Metro Stations starting from Power House to Porur Junction including other associated works. Earlier in Dec 2020, L&T had emerged as the lowest bidder for construction of approx 8 Km of elevated Viaduct with 9 elevated Metro Stations of Chennai Metro Phase-II.

This package is a part of Corridor 4 of CMRL Phase-II Chennai Metro Rail Project and is to be constructed in approximately 36 months.

More About Chennai Metro: At present 45.10 Km of Chennai Metro is operational, 9.051 Km is under construction and 118.90 Km is approved, which is Phase-II of the metro.
