Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL), a state-owned engineering company, announced two significant orders in Telangana and West Bengal with combined value of Rs. 12,900 Crore.

BHEL Wins 800 MW Adilabad Supercritical Thermal Power Plant Order

BHEL’s first order, worth Rs 6,700 crore, is placed by Singareni Collieries Company (SCCL) for the establishment of an 800 MW thermal power unit in Telangana.

This project involves complete plant setup for Adilabad supercritical thermal power project in Mancherial district, adjacent to the existing 2×600 MW units also commissioned by BHEL in 2016. The contract covers BHEL’s responsibilities for design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, erection, commissioning, and civil works and will be executed on an EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Construction) basis.

Raghunathpur Power Plant’s Steam Generator Package for 2×660 MW Order Win by BHEL

The second major order of Rs. 6,200 Crore to BHEL is awarded by Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) through international competitive bidding (ICB). This involves the installation of a steam generator (boiler) island package at the 2×660 MW Raghunathpur Thermal Power Station (TPS) Phase-II in Purulia district, West Bengal. BHEL is already handling the turbine and generator package for this supercritical project.

The scope of work includes design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, erection, testing, and commissioning of the steam generator island package and associated auxiliaries, along with electrical, civil, and structural works. Additionally, the project involves the supply of equipment for emission control.

BHEL: The leading Thermal Power Installation Company in India

BHEL has successfully installed over 75% of the coal-based power sets for various utilities in Telangana and has played a pivotal role in DVC’s coal-based power generation capacity across the country. Earlier this year, BHEL also secured an order under ICB for setting up the 2×800 MW Koderma supercritical thermal power project on an EPC basis from Damodar Valley Corporation.

With an installed power capacity of over 1,70,000 MW across India, BHEL continues to be a crucial player in strengthening the nation’s energy security and supporting the vision of self-reliance in the power sector.
