Bharti Group-owned OneWeb Launches 34 LEO Satellites

OneWeb, the U.K.-based Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite communications operator, co-owned by Bharti group and the UK government, launched another batch of 34 satellites from the Baikonur cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.

With the latest launch, OneWeb’s total in-orbit constellation will be 288 satellites.

OneWeb’s has an initial target of 648 LEO satellite fleet to provide global high-speed, low-latency connectivity by 2022.


Bharti Group had announced an additional investment of INR 3,700 crore (USD 500 million) into OneWeb in June 2021 making it the largest shareholder in the company with 38.6% stakes.
