Airtel gets Highest Corporate Governance Rating from CRISIL

Bharti Airtel Ltd. informed NSE and BSE yesterday that it had received the highest Corporate Governance from CRISIL ‘CRISIL GVC Level 1’

The company’s compliance statement mentioned “The rating indicates that the Company’s capability with respect to corporate governance, and value creation for all its stakeholders, is the ‘Highest’.”

CRISIL mentioned in its report “Airtel has a diversified, well-experienced and competent board of directors, with expertise across global finance, telecommunication, banking, administrative services, technology and consulting.”

Some of the reasons mentioned by CRISIL are the ability shown by Bharti Airtel in largely retaining its market share and a specific corporate governance practice of having separate meetings of independent directors as well as meeting of independent directors with the statutory auditors without the presence of executive directors.
