Essar Appoints D. Muthukumaran as Group Chief Financial Officer

Mr. D. Muthukumaran has been appointed as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Essar Group. The group is one of India’s leading multinational conglomerates with businesses across Energy, Infrastructure, Metals & Mining, and Technology & Retail sectors.

As a qualified Chartered Accountant (CA), Mr. Muthukumaran brings around 34 years of professional experience in finance and corporate strategy.

He began his career with Deloitte in 1992, where he spent over eight years in the firm’s Audit and Corporate Finance division. After a one-year stint at Lazard, a financial advisory and asset management firm, he joined Aditya Birla Management Corporation in 2002 as Head of Group Corporate Finance and worked there for more than 12 years. Later, in 2014, Mr. Muthukumaran joined Aditya Birla Private Equity as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and served the company for over four years.

Mr. Muthukumaran later served as Chief Financial Officer of ReNew Power for three years. Before taking over as Essar Group CFO, he was the Chief Financial Officer of Adani Ports and SEZ.
