Deepak Gupta Assumes Charge as Chairman and Managing Director of GAIL

Mr. Deepak Gupta has assumed the charge of Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) at GAIL (India) Limited. He was appointed at GAIL in February 2022.

GAIL’s new CMD started his career as a Management Trainee at Engineers India Limited in August 1990. He has a highly diversified working profile with Engineers India as he worked there for more than 31 years at several positions. Those positions included Engineer, Senior Manager, General Manager, and Executive Director. After Engineers India, Mr. Gupta joined Maharashtra Natural Gas Limited (a JV of GAIL) for a short period of time, and then became Chairman of Green Gas Ltd. from October 2022 to October 2024.

At GAIL, Mr. Deepak Gupta is leading the execution of multiple natural gas & LPG pipelines, gas processing units, and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) infrastructure. Interestingly, he is also a writer and authored several technical papers and articles on ‘critical packages and fast-tracking project execution’.

Mr. Gupta is a Mechanical Engineer from Delhi College of Engineering. He graduated in 1990.
