Toshiba to Invest Over 500 Cr. for Expanding Transformer Manufacturing
Toshiba Transmission and Distribution Systems-India (TTDI) will be investing 10 billion Japanese Yen (over Rs. 500 crore) in the next three years for expanding its manufacturing capacity of power and distribution transformers. This investment will be made at its existing facility at Patancheru in Sangareddy district of Telangana.
This investment will allow Toshiba Transmission to increase its assembly and test line capacity for both distribution and power transformers. The company will be expanding its manufacturing capacity to cater to exports of power transformers and increasing demand for 400 KV/ 765 KV transformers in India. As a result of this expansion by March 2027, Toshiba’s tranformer manufacturing capacity will increase by 1.5 times of its March 2024 capacity.
Commenting on this development, Mr. Hiroshi Furuta, Chairperson & Managing Director, TTDI, mentioned that TTDI has already supplied India-made transformers to over 50 countries. He added “Furthering our commitment to Make-in-India and Export-from-India, the new investment will improve operational efficiency, increase speed-to-market, and support in expanding our business in India and overseas”.
