Suzlon Group to Supply 400 MW of Wind Turbines to JSP Green Wind

Suzlon Group has secured an order from JSP Green Wind 1 Pvt. Ltd., a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) of Jindal Renewables Power Private Limited, for supplying 400 MW of wind power turbines. This information was shared by Suzlon in its press release dated 10th October 2024.

As per this order, Suzlon will supply 127 Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs) with Hybrid Lattice Tubular* (HLT) towers. Each turbine will have a rated capacity of 3.15 MW and will be deployed in Koppal region of Karnataka. The generated power will be utilized for captive consumption by Jindal Steel & Power Ltd.’s (JSPL) Steel plants located in Chhattisgarh and Odisha.

Commenting on this development, Mr. Bharat Saxena, President, Jindal Renewables, said “As part of our commitment to cleaner energy solutions, we are taking breakthrough steps to integrate green energy into steelmaking, reducing the group’s overall carbon footprint and ensuring long‐term sustainability”. He added that this move is a step towards fulfilling the Jindal Group’s ‘commitment’ to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2047.

*A Hybrid Lattice Tubular (HLT) tower is used to mount wind turbine generator to the desired height. It consists of three components, namely a lattice tower, transition piece, and the tubular tower. The lattice tower is assembled on-site by welding steel profiles just above the foundation of the HLT tower, while the tubular tower forms the top part of the HLT tower. These two sections of the HLT tower are connected by means of a transition piece.
