Torrent Power to Provide 2,000 MW Energy Storage Capacity to Maharashtra DISCOM

Torrent Power Ltd. has received a Letter of Award (LoA) from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd. (MSEDCL). Torrent Power will provide a total of 2,000 MW of pumped hydro storage capacity to MSEDCL.

Out of this total 2,000 MW energy storage capacity, Torrent Power had already received LoA for 1,500 MW from MSEDCL in September 2024. Therefore, the aforementioned LoA entails the remaining 500 MW of energy storage capacity.

Torrent Power will provide energy storage to MSEDCL from its Intra-State Transmission System (InSTS)-Connected pumped Hydro storage plant which is being developed in Maharashtra. The company will provide this energy storage capacity to MSEDCL for a period of 40 years.
