Schneider Electric to Ramp-up Operations in India with Rs. 3,200 Cr. Investment

Schneider Electric will be ramping up its operations in India with investment of Rs. 3,200 crore. This announcement was made during Elecrama 2025 by Mr. Olivier Blum, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Schneider Electric.
Investment to be Made by 2026, 3 New Plants to Come Up
Schneider Electric will set-up 3 new manufacturing plants, one in Kolkata, one in Hyderabad and one in Ahmednagar. Currently, the company has 31 manufacturing plants in India. Apart from the aforementioned new manufacturing plants, the company is planning to expand manufacturing capacity at its existing plants with this investment.
Schneider Electric will be investing this amount by 2026, through which the company targets to add 1.2 million sq.ft of manufacturing space in India.
Commenting on the company’s plans, Mr. Manish Pant, Executive Vice-President (International Operations) of Schneider Electric, said “The way the economy is growing, the way the energy transition is growing in India, we are very strongly committed and have a very strong presence here. We need to continue to invest here to match the growth”.
Schneider Electric to Localize 90% of Manufacturing
As part of its expansion plan, Schneider Electric targets to localize 90% of its manufacturing. Mr. Olivier Blum, CEO of Schneider Electric shared this information in a February interview with CNBC-TV18. He added, “India is not just producing for India but also for the region and the world. For example, UPS systems manufactured in Bangalore are supplied globally”.
Talking about India’s importance as a market for the company, Mr. Blum also mentioned that in 2008 India was not even in Schneider Electric’s top 10 markets, but today it is Schneider’s third-largest market.
Schneider Electric produces a diverse range of systems, including cooling solutions for data centers, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, and technologies such as digital grids. In India, the company manufactures various products, including circuit breakers, switches, PowerLogic meters, programmable logic controllers, substations, lithium-ion batteries, and UPS systems.
