POWERGRID Secures PFC Contract to Evacuate 23.5 GW of Renewable Energy
Power Grid Corporation of India (POWERGRID) has won a contract from PFC Consulting Ltd. for developing two Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS) projects, namely, Bhadla III transmission project in Rajasthan and Ananthapuram transmission project in Andhra Pradesh. These transmission projects will evacuate 23.5 GW of power from Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh.
Bhadla III includes the establishment of a transmission system for evacuating 20 GW of power from RE zone in Rajasthan under phase III part B1. It also includes development of a pooling substation at Bhadla III which will step down from 765 KV to 400 KV and from 400 KV to 220 KV. Laying of a 765 KV Double Circuit (DC) transmission line across Rajasthan is also included in scope of work of this project.
Transmission project in Andhra Pradesh comprises setting up a 400/200 KV pooling substation between Ananthapuram and Kurnool for solar energy zones of 2,500 MW in Ananthapuram and 1,000 MW in Kurnool. It also includes laying of two 400 KV DC transmission lines across the state and related bay extension works.
The projects in Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh are scheduled to be completed within 18 months and 24 months respectively from the effective date of contract.
