Indian Cable Industry Joins Hands in Fight against Corona Virus

In times when the whole World is badly hit by global pandemic of Covid-19, India is also facing lockdown since 24th march 2020. Various sectors of Indian industry are under seize but are giving their full support in lockdown and sustainability of weaker sections.

The Indian Wire and Cable manufacturers have also extended support in these tough times. Production at almost all the cable manufacturing units is zero.

KEI Industries Ltd. one of the leading manufacturers of wires and cables is also contributing in this fight against covid-19. It has pledged to donate Rs. 2 Crore to the Prime Ministers Citizen’s Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situation Fund (PM Cares).

Expressing his views on the initiative, Mr. Anil Gupta, Chairman & Managing Director, KEI Industries Ltd said, “The COVID-19 pandemic is one of the toughest challenges that the world has been facing. At such a time it is imperative for businesses to join hands with the Government as well as the civil society to support the communities we live in and serve”.

Also, due to the nationwide lockdown there are huge number of migrant laborers and daily wage workers in the Delhi / NCR who are struggling for survival. KEI in partnership with ISKCON is serving meals to these individuals and has thus contributed Rs 50 lakh to ISKCON for this initiative. The service is spread in over 125 locations in Delhi using 100 cooks and many volunteers. Fresh hot meals are being delivered using e-rickshaws to more than 2 lakh people daily.

Finolex Industries Ltd., manufacturer of PVC resins and pipes, in which Finolex Cables in the largest shareholder with 32.39% stake, is also supporting the cause through its CSR partner Mukul Madhav Foundation. According to the foundation it has been alert about situation before WHO announced covid-19 as global pandemic. They started making handmade masks with help of various women self-help groups in Masar, Gujarat and Pune, Ratnagiri in Maharashtra.

The Finolex supported foundation has been proactive to provide ventilators, gloves, PPE suits, masks, sanitizers, disinfectants and face shields to The Red Cross Society, KEM Hospital (Mumbai), Sassoon and responded to from General Hospital (Pune), Naidu Hospital (Pune) and a number of private hospitals. In addition to this Finolex in collaboration with a Pune based startup has donated four Scitech Airon Generators which purify the air to Naidu Hospital. Shortly 25 more of these purifiers will be donated to Sassoon Hospital, KEM hospital and nearby police stations.

Paramount Communications Ltd., manufacturer of various telecom, communications and electrical cables, has donated an amount of Rs. 25 lakh to the PM Cares Fund to support fight against Corona Virus. It has also distributed 12000 masks and 1000 bottles of sanitizers with the help of Delhi Police. In addition to this 1000+ families are being provided with food and dry groceries daily. 6000 poor families are also being provided with milk powder packets to feed their children.
