First Edition of the New Energies Conclave was organised by Indian Electrical & Electronics Manufacturers’ Association (IEEMA) and was held on 23rd June 2023 at Delhi’s Ashoka Hall, Manekshaw Centre. The event had REC and Schneider Electric as its prime sponsors.
New Energies Conclave was inaugurated by Mr. AK Rajput, Member (PS), Central Electricity Authority (CEA), Mr. Anil Kadam, Director at Schneider Electric, and Mr. Shaji John, Sr. VP, Ohmium. The conclave comprised three sessions which were centered around the importance of Renewable Energy (RE) capacity addition in the backdrop of the current energy scenario, challenges associated with RE grid integration and their mitigation, and a ‘grid services business model’ based on presentations by think tanks, academia, and startups.
At the conclave, Mr. AK Rajput highlighted the importance of energy storage solutions for RE grid integration, “Grid level storage is critical and we must explore various forms of storage in our move towards new energies. Hydrogen storage, pump storage, in addition to battery storage will be important”, he said.
Speaking about RE capacity addition, Mr. Anil Kumar Kadam, Chairman, IEEMA Smart Grid Division, said, “We are currently working on for achieving 400 GW, aspiring for 800 GW and grid has a unidirectional aspect”.
