HFCL Plans Major Capacity Expansion in Optical Fibre Manufacturing Sector
Himachal Futuristic Communications Ltd. (HFCL), a manufacturer of Optical Fibre Cables (OFCs), has announced to increase its manufacturing capacities for Optical Fibre and OFCs.
As per the newly announced expansion plan, the company will be responsible for increasing its Optical Fibre manufacturing capacity to 33.9 million fibre-kilometres by December 2026. Currently, this capacity stands at 28 million fibre-kilometres per annum. Additionally. HFCL will also expand its OFCs manufacturing capacity to 42.3 million fibre-kilometres by June 2026 from the existing capacity of 30.5 million fibre-kilometres.
In its Q3 FY26 earnings call, Mr Mahendra Nahata, Managing Director of HFCL, mentioned that the company completed an issue of Rs. 550 crore through Qualified Institutions Placement. This capital raised will support capacity expansion, R&D investments, and debt reduction.
HFCL also recently published its Q3 FY26 financial results with impressive YoY revenue growth of 19.65%. The company’s PAT also showed an increase of 41.04% YoY. Commenting on the financials, Mr Nahata said, “ We expanded our export footprint, continued capacity build-up and advanced our defence portfolio, while consciously improving the quality and sustainability of our revenue mix”.
