Greenko-John Cockerill JV to Invest USD 500 million on Electrolyser Factories for Green Hydrogen
Hyderabad-based Greenko Group, through its subsidiary Greenko ZeroC (GZC), and Belgium-based John Cockerill signed an agreement on 18th March 2022 to form a 50:50 JV which will set up two alkaline electrolyser factories in India. This information was announced by a joint press release by the companies dated 8th April 2022.
These factories are planned to come up in the next 12 to 18 months with an investment of $500 million. This 1 GW electrolyser-producing facility will be the biggest in the World outside China.
These electrolysers are based on John Cockerill’s pressurised alkaline technology, which will help produce Green Hydrogen from water economically. Greenko will contribute to setting up the facility, and plans to use its upcoming hydropower storage capacity in Andhra Pradesh to supply power to it.
