Finolex Cables Launches 7.5 kA Switchgear Range

Finolex Cables Limited has expanded its switchgear portfolio with the launch of Magnex 7.5 KA range, which includes Miniature Circuit Breakers (MCBs), isolators, and distribution boxes.

Features of the Magnex 7.5 kA Range

The new Magnex 7.5 kA switchgear range features copper + silver-plated contacts to ensure reliable performance. It uses thermal mechanism to automatically shut off power during electrical overloads and magnetic tripping mechanism for short circuits. The features also include finger-safe terminal design to prevent human fingers or tools from accidentally touching live electrical parts.

The switchgear range features biconnect terminals and line-load reversibility, which means reversible line and load terminals, allowing electrical current to enter and exit the MCB through either the top or bottom terminals.

The Magnex 7.5 KA range complies with IEC 60898-1, an international standard for low-voltage miniature circuit breakers used for overcurrent protection in residential and commercial installations. The switchgear range also meets Energy Limitation Class 3 requirements, which indicate the MCB’s ability to limit the energy released during a short circuit, helping reduce the risk of damage to electrical equipment.

Finolex Cables started manufacturing switchgear in 2016 at its plant in Roorkee, Uttarakhand. With the launch of the 7.5 KA range, the company has added a product category between its existing 6 KA and 10 KA switchgear ranges. Through this new launch, the company has also expanded its FMEG portfolio, and thus this launch will help Finolex Cables reach closer to its revenue target of ₹400 crore for FMEG business in FY27.
