GAIL to Invest Rs. 3,294 Cr. in 600 MW Solar & BESS Project in UP

GAIL (India) Limited has announced an investment of Rs. 3,294.86 crore for the development of a solar power and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Uttar Pradesh. This project will be developed at TUSCO’s Solar Park located in Jhansi, UP.

The solar power project, to be developed by GAIL, will have a capacity of 600 MW and will be set up along with a 550 MWh Battery Energy Storage System. This project will be financed through a mix of debt and equity. GAIL’s new project will primarily cater to the captive energy requirements of the company’s petrochemical plant at Pata in the Auraiya district of Uttar Pradesh.

The project is expected to be completed within 15 months from the receipt of the Letter of Award (LoA).

Speaking on this development, Mr. R K Singhal, Director (Business Development), GAIL, said “This solar project reflects GAIL’s commitment for diversifying into low-carbon and sustainable energy solutions”. He further mentioned that through this project, the company is also expanding its footprint in UP.
