Elecrama 2023: Record Visitors with Co-Located Events, Focused Pavilions & Sustainability Theme

Indian Electrical and Electronics Manufacturers Association’s (IEEMA) flagship tradeshow, ELECRAMA, was held from 18th to 22nd February 2023 at India Expo Mart, Greater Noida. Schneider Electric was the event’s Sustainability Partner, while Laser Power & Infra and Phoenix Contact were the Associate sponsors for ELECRAMA 2023.

As per IEEMA, ELECRAMA it is the world’s largest standalone show for electrical and allied equipment manufacturers and the Transmission & Distribution (T&D) industry. The event’s 15th edition witnessed the participation of over 1,000 domestic and global exhibitors, over 700 international buyers and more than 300 domestic buyers from the electrical and electronic industry.

ELECRAMA’s 15th edition was supposed to be held in 2022 but got delayed due to the CoVID pandemic.

Sustainability: The Central Theme at ELECRAMA 2023

For ELECRAMA 2023, the central theme was ‘Reimagine Energy – For Sustainable Future’. The exhibition showcased innovative products and solutions in areas such as electric vehicle chargers and electromobility, battery storage solutions, Green Hydrogen, Renewable Energy, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) & Internet of Things (IoT) – enabled software solutions for automation and efficient remote process management.

ELECRAMA 2023: In Line with the Indian Govt’s Vision 2047

In line with the Indian Government’s ‘Vision 2047’, ELECRAMA is focusing on energy transition, increasing electricity penetration, digitisation and security of supply chains, Green Hydrogen value chain and energy storage solutions.

At the event’s inaugural ceremony, Mr. R.K. Singh, Union Power Minister said, “India will develop around 400 GW of electricity capacity in the next seven years to 2030, which will increase by 800 GW by 2047 if we have to meet our 2070 net zero target”, and further, addressing different manufacturers present at the event, he continued, “Imagine the transmission capacity that we have to add. The challenge for us that we will need to provide the equipment needed for India’s growth”.

IEEMA Goes the Extra Mile by Sponsoring Foreign Buyers at ELECRAMA 2023

ELECRAMA 2023 witnessed the participation of over 1,000 exhibitors from over 75 nations across the globe. The event recorded a massive footfall which reached the 3.5 lakh mark. The event also sponsored more than 800 buyers to attend Buyer-Seller meets which were organised as co-located events with the main exhibition.

Co-Located Events Hosted at ELECRAMA 2023

In addition to the exhibition, four co-located events were hosted at ELECRAMA 2023.

World Utility Summit: The 4th Edition of the World Utility Summit, a thought leadership forum, was held on 20th and 21st February 2023. Themed around ‘Sustainable Transformation of Utilities’, the summit’s agenda entailed pursuing technologies and products for enhancing resilience and sustainability, and better asset management of power utilities. The event was attended by policymakers, financial experts, power regulators, standards organisations and top management of various power utilities.

eTECHnxt: The 3rd edition of eTECHnxt was held from 18th February to 22nd February. eTECHnxt 2023 had the theme, ‘Accelerating towards Clean & Sustainable Energy’. This event focused on areas of energy transition technologies, battery and energy storage, Electric Vehicle charging, Green Hydrogen and Fuel Cell technologies and net zero buildings and industries.

CHANGE XCHANGE: CHANGE XCHANGE 2023 was a Reverse Buyer-Seller Meet (RBSM) event, which was aimed at encouraging international buyers to procure their required materials from India. Over 700 international buyers from more than 75 nations participated in the 6th edition of CHANGE XCHANGE.

While speaking with CableCommunity, Mr. Shekhar Deshpande, Head of Sales – Electrical and Instrumentation at Qatar-based Venture Global W.L.L., said, “It was pleasure visiting ELECRAMA this year again. Previously also I attended RBSM meetings twice. This year also my experience was very good in terms of hospitality, arrangements done by IEEMA and ofcourse exhibition”. Mr. Deshpande added that he was a part of about 20 RBSM meetings. “In my every visit, I brought 2-3 companies to Qatar. We are still doing business for their products”, he said.

Mr. Deshpande was one of the buyers sponsored by IEEMA to attend the RBSM. Expressing his gratitude he added, “I am thankful to IEEMA for giving me opportunity to visit ELECRAMA”.

Major sponsors for RBSM included Ace Super Impex, Genus, IndoAsian, Micro-Mech Engineers, RTS Power, SumiP, Shri Tirupati Enterprises and Zetwerk.

Domestic Buyer-Seller Meet (DBSM): The 2nd edition of DBSM was targeted at opening global markets to Indian Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). This event was not restricted to the power utility sector, but also included enterprises from sectors like rail, defence and real estate.

This event was sponsored by Altanova, Banco Aluminium, Easun MR, Siemens, Micro-Mech Engineers and Utkarsh India.

Focused Pavilions at ELECRAMA 2023

ELECRAMA’s 15th edition featured Power PSU pavilion, Official German Pavilion and Women in Power pavilion.

Inauguration of the Power PSU Pavilion at ELECRAMA 2023

Power PSU Pavilion: The Power Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) pavilion at ELECRAMA 2023 was inaugurated by Mr. R.K Singh, Union Power Minister, in the presence of Mr. Vivek Kumar Dewangan, Chairman & Managing Director, REC Limited. The theme for ELECRAMA’s Power PSU pavilion was ‘Re-imagining the Future: Metamorphosis of the Power Sector in India’. The pavilion showcased technologies and solutions such as e-Mobility, Energy Transition, Smart Meters, Smart Feeder Management Systems, HVDC, Methanol production, Smart Grids, and Green Financing.

Power PSUs such as Power Finance Corporation (PFC), NTPC, Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL), REC, Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN) and NHPC participated in this pavilion.

Official German Pavilion: This pavilion was organised by the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce (IGCC), and brought together 21 German exhibitors participating in ELECRAMA 2023. Some of these companies included FUHR GmbH & Co. KG – Rolling Mills, Intercable Tools GmbH, ZECK GmbH, RAMPF Polymer Solutions GmbH & Co. KG, MENNEKES Elektrotechnik GmbH & Co. KG and HEDRICH Group.

The German pavilion furthered its ‘Made in Germany’ brand at the 15th edition of ELECRAMA.

Women in Power Pavilion: The second edition of ‘Women in Power’ was launched as a special pavilion at ELECRAMA 2023 on 19th February to acknowledge and celebrate women in the power sector.

Influential women such as Ms. Charu Mathur, Director General, IEEMA, Ms. Renuka Gera, Director (Industrial Systems and Products), Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (BHEL), and Ms. Aarya Satyanarayan, Director of Venson Electric Pvt. Ltd. addressed this pavilion.
