ELECRAMA 2023, the flagship pan-India tradeshow organised by Indian Electrical and Electronics Manufacturers Association (IEEMA), was held from 18th to 22nd February at India Expo Mart, Greater Noida. Schneider Electric was the Sustainability Partner for ELECRAMA 2023, while Laser Power & Infra and Phoenix Contact were the Associate Sponsors for the event.

Over 1,000 exhibitors participated in the mega-tradeshow, which included major names from the Indian electrical and electronics community.

Sterlite Power Exhibits New OPGW and High-Performance Conductor

Sterlite Power, a Vedanta Group company, showcased its newly launched Optical Ground Wire (OPGW) and High-Performance Conductor at the 15th edition of ELECRAMA. Sterlite Power’s 96 Fiber Optical Ground Wire features a high optical fibre count, which enables a larger data transfer capacity. This OPGW is suitable for 132KV, 220KV and 400KV transmission lines.

Sterlite Power’s ACCC ULS Brahmaputra High-Performance Conductor (HPC) has been designed specifically to be used for transmission across the Brahmaputra river. This conductor combines the functions of earth wire and OPGW. The unique design combines aluminium alloy with composite core with ultra-low sag, which improves the efficiency, capacity, reliability, and resiliency of the critical river crossing span”, as per the company’s official release dated 18th February 2023.

General Electric T&D (GE T&D) launched a new transformer at ELECRAMA 2023, which combines Potential Transformer and Current Transformer into a single unit. The newly launched transformer employs a Combined Metering Unit (CMU) for metering purposes. This innovative transformer saves space by combining the functions of two transformers in one, thereby reducing land acquisition and installation costs, explained GE T&D’s team at ELECRAMA 2023.

Schneider Electric Exhibits AI & IoT Enabled Solutions at ELECRAMA 2023

Schneider Electric, the Sustainability Partner for ELECRAMA’s 15th edition, showcased its Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT) – enabled solutions at the event. Schneider Electric’s team at ELECRAMA told CableCommunity that the company’s Ecostruxure solutions, namely ‘Process Expert’ and ‘Plant Advisor-Process Intelligence’ gathered a healthy response from the visitors.

EcoStruxure Process Expert is a comprehensive automation system to engineer, operate, and maintain an entire plant. It is an IoT enabled system with a central repository for all the system configuration of different connected devices and any changes in the engineering design can also be tracked. The system is also powered by predictive maintenance and advanced alarm management to help distinguish between critical alarms from routine alarms. Major application sectors include Metals, Power, Oil and Gas, Chemicals, Water treatment etc.

EcoStruxure Plant Advisor – Process Intelligence a process optimisation platform for mining and cement industry. It uses Artificial intelligence (AI), Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), and data analysis to improve operational effectiveness in mining and cement enterprises..

Speaking at ELECRAMA 2023, Mr. Jean-Pascal Tricoire, Chairman and CEO of Schneider Electric had said, “At ELECRAMA we are showcasing widest range of solutions for energy management, digitisation, automation and sustainability through our Schneider Electric and L&T Electrical and Automation brands”.

L&T Automation Brings Forward Equipment Health Management System for Switchgears

L&T Automation showcased its Equipment Health Assessment Management System at ELECRAMA 2023. This software solution, named iONE Predict, uses predictive technology to assess the health of Low Voltage (LV) and Medium Voltage (MV) switchgear, and foresee any probable faults based on parameters gathered through constant monitoring. These parameters are fed into iONE predict’s predictive algorithm.

Other than iONE predict, the company also showcased SmartComm, a software solution designed for collecting, storing and analysing data for the maintenance of LV switchgear, Distribution Board (DB), various panels and feeders. SmartComm is capable of sensing temperature to ensure that the equipment does not overheat during operation.

WIKA India Showcases SF6 Detector

WIKA India, a prominent player in the precision instruments manufacturing space, showcased several high-precision instruments and solutions at its ELECRAMA stall such as flow switches and its ‘WEgrid Solutions’ for T&D. The company featured its Sulphur hexaflouride (SF6) detector at ELECRAMA 2023. This instrument has been designed to be used in power substations, where SF6 gas is used for electrical and heat insulation. WIKA’s SF6 detector has pressure, temperature and humidity sensors in one instrument, based on which gas density and dew point are calculated. WIKA’s SF6 detector offers online monitoring, which would help manage gas substations more efficiently.

WAGO Showcases 221 Series Connectors

WAGO, a key manufacturer of electrical connectors, exhibited its 221 series connectors and Rail Mount Terminal Blocks (RMTBs), which are used in control panels.

Speaking about the event, Mr. Sanjay Madhwal, Vice President Sales and Marketing, WAGO India said, “We expect to catch up with customers after the CoVID pandemic, and find more about the industry and business environment”. He continued that the company expects the sales to touch Rs. 220 crore by the end of the ongoing fiscal. Mr. Madhwal also shared that the company will now be shifting its focus on the automation sector.

Axis Electrical Components Exhibits Lightening Protection Solution

Mumbai-headquartered Axis Electrical Components showcased its lightning protection solution, which comprised its Early Streamer Emission (ESE) Lightning Arrester. This solution is designed to protect buildings and solar projects from lightning strikes.

In addition to its lightning protection solution, the company promoted its Aerial Bundle Conductors (ABCs), which are used for Overhead Power Distribution. ABCs provide higher reliability and lower power losses as compared to conventional bare conductors.

Speaking to CableCommunity, Mr. Kanderp Khandwala, Founder and MD of Axis Electricals at ELECRAMA expressed We seek to be a part of the Government’s plans for electrification in India and would like to increase our share in this growing market”. He further added that the company had decided to showcase its Aerial Bundle Conductors as an addition to its electrification product range at ELECRAMA.

ELECRAMA 2023, therefore, represented an optimistic picture of the Indian Electrical industry in the post-CoVID era. The event marked the first pan-India event of such scale after the pandemic. Participating companies stressed not only on their new or revamped offerings, but also asserted that the industry is back on track after braving the CoVID crisis.
