DICABS Nextgen Special Alloys Pvt. Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Diamond Power Infrastructure Limited, has commenced commercial production at its second Aluminium rod mill for manufacturing AL-59 wire rods at its plant in Vadodara, Gujarat.

The company had earlier commissioned its first manufacturing mill in March 2025.

New Mill Capacity and Investment Details

Diamond Power’s newly established mill at Vadodara has a production capacity of 2,500 Metric Tonnes (MT) per month. The company has invested Rs. 20 crore for developing this new mill. The company has utilized internal accruals to fund the project.

Explaining the rationale behind this expansion, the company stated in its concerned stock filing that the commissioning of the new wire rod mill targets “to add capacity for value-added products that will support the needs of power utilities undertaking corridor strengthening, renewable energy integration, and urban distribution upgrades”.

Part of a Larger Greenfield Al-Rod Manufacturing Project

DICABS NextGen Special Alloys is currently developing a greenfield Aluminium rod manufacturing project at Vadodara, of which the newly commissioned mill is a part. The entire project will comprise three mills, which, upon completion, will collectively have a production capacity of 250 MT per day, equivalent to 7,500 MT per month.

With the commencement of production at this second rod mill, two out of the three greenfield rod mills at the Vadodara plant have now been commissioned.

DICABS’ Annual Aluminium Wire Rod Capacity at 73,200 MT

With the commissioning of its second Aluminium wire rod mill, the company’s total installed capacity for Aluminium wire rods has increased to 73,200 metric tonnes per annum, marking a significant step toward meeting growing market demand.

The newly commissioned mill is dedicated to producing AL-59 wire rods, an important material used in the manufacture of conductors for Transmission and Distribution (T&D) projects.

According to a report by Allied Market Research, the Indian Aluminium bare wire conductor market was valued at USD 1,668.2 million in 2023, and is projected to reach USD 2,522.5 million by 2033, growing at a CAGR of 4.3% between 2024 and 2033. Rising demand for Aluminium conductors in high-voltage applications, coupled with the rapid expansion of power transmission and distribution infrastructure, continues to drive this upward trend. Therefore, DICABS’ investment in expanding its Al-59 wire rod production comes as a natural move.
