Amara Raja Showcases Prefab Substations with Schneider at Elecrama 2020

Amara Raja Power Systems, a unit of Amara Raja Group (Known for its brand Amaron) in collaboration with Schneider Electric India showcased its recently launched prefabricated substations at Elecrama 2020 held on 18th to 22nd January at Expo Mart, Greater Noida.

Under the partnership, Amara Raja Power Systems will be manufacturing the range for the end consumer while Schneider India would pitch in with back-end technology support.
Amara Raja Power Systems MD and CEO Mr. Vikramadithya Gourineni said “The package substation solution not only helps one to save on cost of land but also removes the need for coordination with different suppliers”.
The solution also helps in minimising cost pertaining to separate civil structures, reduces cost of cable laying between each equipment and other transportation, he added.

“The company will start sales of packaged substations in five southern states and two Union Territories in the first stage before scaling up in other regions. In coastal districts where cyclones impact power supplies, these substations along with underground cables could help in speedy restoration of power”. Gourineni said.
Amara Raja – Schneider Packaged Substation Solution
Describing technical details of the product to CableCommunity.com, Mr. G Ramesh Kumar, Sr. Engineer, Amara Raja who was at the company’s stand during Elecrama show said “The packaged substation by Amara Raja is built with very best of the components to ensure safe and efficient operations”.

The pre-fabricated substation is rated at 11KV / 433 V AC and has three compartments: MV (Medium Voltage is 240V to 360V), LV (Low Voltage is 120V and under) for power output and Transformer for power input. Access to the MV and LV compartments has been given through two double doors and to the transformer compartment by removable panels or doors.
The 2.0 mm thick galvanized steel enclosure of the substation is mounted on a 4 mm thick hot-dip galvanized steel base and measures 3.42 x 2.00 x 2.10 meters .
Amara Raja – Schneider Electric Future Plans
The company plans to sell around 300-400 units to start with catering to residential buildings, hospitals, hotels etc.
Commenting on the tie up, Schneider Electric India Managing Director Anil Chaudhry said the partnership allows the company to establish its footprint in the the Southern states.
Schneider has an installed base of more than 1 lakh package substations all over the globe. Amara Raja and Schneider Electric also inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to study feasibility of collaboration in the field of micro grid and energy storage.
