Adani World’s First to Integrate RotoDynamic Heater for Cement Production

Adani Cement & Finland’s Coolbrook will work together to deploy world’s first commercial RotoDynamic Heater (RDH) at Adani’s Boyareddypalli Integrated Cement Plant in Andhra Pradesh. This will make it the first cement plant globally to integrate this technology in the industrial space.

As per Coolbrook, RDH technology is currently the only electric heating technology which can supply enough heat for industrial processes in segments such as Steel, cement and chemicals. Coolbrook states on its website that this enables RDH to replace fossil fuel-based heating systems in factories, and thereby cut carbon emissions.

At Adani’s Boyareddypalli plant, this system will target decarbonisation of calcination phase, which is the most fossil fuel-intensive stage in cement production. As per Adani Group, this RDH’s deployment will reduce about 60,000 tonne of CO2 emissions every year. Coolbrook’s RDH at Adani’s Boyareddypalli plant will be capable of providing temperatures upto 1,000 degree Celsius. Further, this RDH system will be powered entirely by renewable energy. This will further Adani Cement’s target of increasing its RE usage to 60% of the total power used by FY28.

Mr Vinod Bahety, CEO – Cement Business, Adani Group, said, “By integrating such cutting-edge electrification solutions into our cement production, we are accelerating the shift away from fossil fuels, reducing emissions at scale, enhancing the utilisation of clean energy sources, and setting a new standard for low-carbon cement manufacturing.” Adani Cement also plans to deploy RDH technology at five additional projects within the next two years.
