Unistar to Expand Manufacturing Capacity at its Satna & Verna Plants
Universal Cables Limited (Unistar) will be expanding its cable manufacturing capacity at its existing plants in Satna, Madhya Pradesh and Verna, Goa. The company has raised its planned capital expenditure for this expansion to Rs. 482 crore, up from the earlier Rs. 277 crore.
The company will fund this expansion through a combination of long-term debt and internal accruals.
Universal Cables’ Expansion Plans at its Satna Plant
Universal Cables will increase its manufacturing capacity for Low Voltage (LV), Medium Voltage (MV), High Voltage (HV), and Extra High Voltage (EHV) power cables in the range of 31,575 – 32,850 Km Per Annum from the current 21,450 Km Per Annum.
Apart from the expansion of cables, Universal Cables will also be expanding its Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) compounds capacity for wires & cables. Currently, the company manufactures about 3,600 Metric Tonnes of PVC compounds every year and this capacity will be expanded to 9,000 MTs of compounds per year.
Unistar to Expand Wires & Cables Manufacturing Capacity at Goa Plant
At its Verna plant in Goa, Universal Cable will expand manufacturing capacity of insulated winding wires, building wires & multicore flexible cables to 2,50,000 Km Per Annum from the current manufacturing capacity of 75,000 Km Per Annum.
Universal Cables’ Rationale Behind this Expansion
Highlighting the rationale behind the aforementioned expansion, the company mentioned that this capacity expansion is expected to cater to growing demand of LV, MV, HV/ EHV cables, insulated winding wires, building wires and multicore flexible cables in domestic and overseas markets. The company further mentioned that power cable industry has experienced a surge in demand recently, with visible growth across wire and cable ranges produced by the company.
