Suzlon Energy Wins 302 MW Wind Turbine Supply Order from Jindal Renewables
Suzlon Energy has received an order to supply Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs) for a 302.4 MW wind power project by JSP Green Wind 1 Pvt. Ltd., a subsidiary of Jindal Renewables. The project will be developed in Koppal region of Karnataka.
Under this contract, Suzlon will supply 96 Wind Turbine Generators from its S144 series, each with a power generation capacity of 3.15 MW, along with Hybrid Lattice Towers (HLTs)* to JSP Green Wind 1. The power generated by the project will be used for captive consumption in Jindal’s Steel plants located in Chhattisgarh and Odisha.
*A Hybrid Lattice Tubular (HLT) tower is used to mount wind turbine generator to the desired height. It consists of three components, namely a lattice tower, transition piece, and the tubular tower. The lattice tower is assembled on-site by welding steel profiles just above the foundation of the HLT tower, while the tubular tower forms the top part of the HLT tower. These two sections of the HLT tower are connected by means of a transition piece.
Suzlon’s order book has reached 5.4 GW, with Commercial and Industrial (C&I) customers representing 56% of the total, the largest share in the company’s history.
Commenting on this order win, Mr. Bharat Saxena, President of Jindal Renewables said “Partnering with Suzlon for lower emission Steel production is just the beginning—there will be many more such initiatives as we continue to lead the way in adopting Renewable Energy solutions”.
Mr. JP Chalasani, Chief Executive Officer of Suzlon Group said “The integration of renewable energy into industrial operations is not just an opportunity but a necessity for a cleaner and greener future”.
Earlier in October 2024, Suzlon had won an order to supply 400 MW of WTGs to the same client, JSP Green Wind 1 Pvt. Ltd. Taken together with this order, Suzlon’s WTG supply to JSP Green Wind 1 marks its largest yet supply mandate (totalling to 702.4 MW of WTGs) in the C&I segment.
