Unistar Q1 FY-25 Financials: PAT Down 77% YoY, Revenue Flat

Universal Cables Limited (also known as Unistar) [NSE: UNIVCABLES, BOM: 504212], an Indian cable manufacturer has announced its financial results for Q1 of FY-25.
Universal Cables’ Q1 FY-25 Standalone Financials
Universal Cables reported a standalone revenue of Rs. 488.70 crore from operations during Q1 of FY-25. The company earned a Profit After Tax (PAT) of Rs. 1.67 crore for first quarter of FY-25.

On Year-over-Year (YoY) basis, the company’s revenue from operations remained almost flat, increasing slightly to Rs. 488.70 crore during Q1 of FY-25 from Rs. 479.41 crore, which was logged as revenue for Q1 of FY-24. This shows a YoY marginal increase of 1.94% in the company’s revenue. On the other hand, Unistar’s consolidated PAT slumped to Rs. 5.59 crore during Q1 of FY-25, reflecting a significant YoY decrease of 76.76% from the company’s Q1 FY-24 PAT of Rs. 24.05 crore.

Following suit, Universal Cables’ EPS fell to Rs. 1.61 during Q1 of FY-25 from Rs. 6.93 during Q1 of FY-24.
QoQ Comparison of Unistar’s Financials: Q1 FY-25 vs. Q4 FY-24
On Quarter-over-Quarter (QoQ) basis, the company’s revenue from operations for Q1 FY-25 decreased by 15.79 % from Rs. 580.33 crore earned during Q4 of FY-24. The company’s Q1 FY-25 profit fell by 88.49% from the company’s Q4 FY-24 PAT of Rs. 48.57 crore.
Universal Cables’ Ongoing Expansions at its Satna & Goa Plants
In its annual report for FY-24, Universal Cables stated its ongoing expansion for increasing manufacturing capacity for Low Voltage (LV), Medium Voltage (MV), and Extra High Voltage (EHV) power cables, as well as flexible wires at its Satna and Goa plants is expected to be completed by the last quarter of FY-26.
Universal Cables’ total investment for this expansion will amount to approximately Rs. 277 crore. Unistar’s annual report mentioned, “The proposed expansion plan will enable flexible manufacturing setup, enabling the Company to switch production between HV/EHV and MV XLPE Insulated Power Cables, the key products, at times when the demand is asymmetric in nature”.
