Union Cabinet Approves INR 2,614.51 Cr. Hydro Project in Himachal

Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved Rs. 2,614.51 crore investment on Sunni dam hydroelectric project in Shimla and Mandi districts of Himachal Pradesh. This project will have a generation capacity of 382 MW and will be developed by Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN).

This hydel project will be a run-of-river type of hydro project and will comprise a concrete gravity dam which will be 71 metres in height. The project’s surface powerhouse will have 6 power-generating units.

Sunni hydro project is expected to generate 1,382 Million Units (MUs) of power annually. The project has already secured requisite environmental clearances and has a completion period of 63 months.
