UltraTech Cement Targets Over 210 MMTPA Production by March 2027
UltraTech Cement, part of the Aditya Birla Group and a major Indian cement manufacturer, is targeting a production capacity of about 210.5 Million Metric Tonne Per Annum (MMTPA) by March 2027 from the current 183.4 MMTPA.
The company has also announced a CapEx of Rs. 9,000-10,000 crore for FY-26, out of which a major portion will be directed towards enhancing its cement manufacturing capacity.
Rs. 7,000 Crore Investment in FY-26 for Strategic Expansion Plans – UltraTech CFO
During the company’s earnings call for its FY-25 financials, Mr. Atul Daga, UltraTech Cement’s CFO, shared that out of the CapEx planned for FY-26, “…INR 7,000 crores is towards strategic investments [for the] the ongoing expansion program”.
12.4 MMTPA Production Capacity to be Added in FY-26
In FY-26, the company plans to add 3 MMTPA production capacity in northern India, 1.8 MMTPA each in central and western India, 2.5 MMTPA in eastern India, and 3.3 MMTPA in southern India. Therefore, UltraTech Cement plans to add a total of 12.4 MMTPA cement manufacturing capacity in FY-26 across the country.
UltraTech to Add 14.7 MMTPA Capacity in FY-27
In FY-27, UltraTech plans to add another 2.7 MMTPA of production capacity in nothern India, 6.6 MMTPA in eastern India, and 5.4 MMTPA in southern India. This translates to production capacity addition of 14.7 MMTPA in 2026-27.
Therefore by the end of FY-27, UltraTech Cement’s collective production capacity is expected to reach 210.5 MMTPA.
UltraTech’s Greenfield and Brownfield Expansion Plans for FY-26 & FY-27
Planned Capacity Expansion During FY-26
During FY-26, UltraTech plans to establish a greenfield cement grinding unit in Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh, with a capacity of 1.8 MMTPA. Additionally, another greenfield grinding unit with a capacity of 3.3 MMTPA will be set up in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
As part of its brownfield expansion, the company will commission a cement grinding unit in Patratu, Jharkhand, with a capacity of 2.5 MMTPA. Brownfield integrated cement units with capacities of 1.8 MMTPA and 1.2 MMTPA will be developed in Maihar, Madhya Pradesh, and Nathdwara, Rajasthan, respectively. Furthermore, two integrated units with capacities of 1.2 MMTPA and 0.6 MMTPA will be established in Maharashtra.
UltraTech’s Expansion Plans for FY-27
During FY-27, UltraTech’s greenfield expansion includes the establishment of two 3.3 MMTPA cement grinding units, one in Bihar and the other in West Bengal. Additionally, a greenfield grinding unit with a capacity of 2.7 MMTPA will be developed in Andhra Pradesh.
As brownfield expansion in FY-27, UltraTech will set up a 2.7 MMTPA grinding unit in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, and a 2.7 MMTPA integrated unit in Andhra Pradesh.
Considering all these grinding units and integrated units (greenfield as well as brownfield), UltraTech will add 27.1 MMTPA of cement manufacturing capacity over the course of FY-26 and FY-27.
