TRIL Wins 108 Crore Order from PGCIL

Gujarat-based transformer and rectifier manufacturer Transformers & Rectifier India Ltd. (TRIL), in a stock exchange filing on 15th March 2021 informed about winning an order worth Rs. 108 Crore from Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL). The order is to supply distribution transformers to PGCIL.

This order has taken TRIL’s outstanding order book for the financial year 2020-21 as on date to around Rs.1,123 Crore, factoring both domestic and overseas orders.

Recently, in December 2020 TRIL received relief from performance security deposit worth Rs. 68 Crore by PGCIL for its ongoing orders. PGCIL in accordance with the order issued by Union Ministry of Finance reduced the Performance Security Deposits from existing 5-10% to 3% of contract value as a counter measure for slowdown due to pandemic.

TRIL Technical Collaborations for Manufacturing Transformers

Transformers and Rectifier India Ltd. has a technical collaboration with Ukraine-based ZTR for manufacturing 765kV transformers, and with Fuji Electric, Japan for 400/765kV reactors and 400kV generator transformers.

Transformer Sales by TRIL during Covid-19 pandemic

In a recent investor presentation TRIL mentioned 8% physical growth in sales of sub-220 KV class transformers, during the first nine months (April to December) of FY21.

The physical sales of 220 KV class transformers (in Mega-Volt Amperes-MVA) during the first nine months of FY21 stood at 6,886 MVA as against 6,374 MVA in the same period of FY20.

But in the 220 KV-plus class, TRIL registered a 14% decline in physical sales. TRIL sold 5,842 MVA worth of such transformers in the April-December period of FY21, as against 6,805 MVA in the same period of FY20.

Overall TRIL’s transformers sales, in terms of MVA, were down 3.4% year-on-year during the first nine months of FY21.
