STL Launches Pre-Terminated Fiber Trunk Assemblies for Data Centers

Sterlite Technologies Limited (STL) has launched Pre-Terminated Fiber Trunk Assemblies under its Neuralis data center solutions portfolio. This new product is a ready-to-use Optical Fiber Cable (OFC) with connectors installed and tested on both ends.
The company is already known as a major manufacturer of standard optical fiber cables, but this new launch marks the company’s entry into production of pre-terminated trunk assemblies.
Features of STL’s Pre-Terminated Fiber Trunk Assemblies
Highlighting the features of its newly launched product, STL stated in a press release that these Pre-Terminated Fiber Trunk Assemblies are available in two cable options: single-mode ITU-T G.657.A2 fiber (200 or 250 microns (µm)) for bend-insensitive, space-constrained routing, and indoor OM4 multimode fiber for shorter, cost-optimized links.
Also, both the indoor and indoor/outdoor Pre-Terminated Fiber Trunk Assemblies use STL’s Intermittently Bonded Ribbon (IBR) rollable ribbon technology with color-coded bonded ribbons to simplify ribbon identification.
Pre-Terminated Fiber Trunk Assemblies Range from 48F to 6912F
STL’s Pre-Terminated Fiber Trunk Assemblies are available with fiber counts ranging from 48F to 6912F and are offered in two categories.
The first category is Indoor Pre-Terminated Fiber Trunk Assemblies, available in cable diameters ranging from 5.8 mm (48F) to 12.2 mm (576F). They are designed for Multi-fiber Micro Connector (MMC), Multi-Fiber Push-On (MPO), and Lucent Connector (LC) connections inside data halls.
The second category is Indoor/Outdoor Pre-Terminated Fiber Trunk Assemblies, available from fiber count of 144F to 6912F with an outer diameter up to 32 mm. These assemblies are designed for campus, inter-building, and inter-row interconnects.
Both product categories comply with the applicable cable safety standards.
Why Does this Launch Matter for Data Centers?
STL mentioned in its press release that this product is designed for data centers to address the increasing bandwidth demand driven by AI and cloud computing. Traditionally, OFCs are pulled through buildings and manually spliced by technicians, which can take weeks and result in insertion loss. Now, this new product can be pulled through trays and plugged directly into patch panels, cutting deployment timelines to hours and eliminating installation-related faults.
Commenting on the launch, Dr. Badri Gomatam, Chief Technology Officer (CTO), STL, said, “Every data center customer we work with is trying to solve the same equation – more capacity, less time….Our Pre-Terminated Trunk Assemblies are designed for dense networks; they are pre-tested, ready to connect on arrival, and flexible”.
