NHAI to Develop 10,000 Km of Digital Highways by FY-25
National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will be developing around 10,000 Km of digital highways* across the country by FY-25. This digitisation of highways will be implemented by National Highways Logistics Management Limited (NHLML), a wholly-owned Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) of the NHAI.
NHAI has recognised two highway segments adding up to 1,879 Km in length as pilot routes for digitisation. The first segment is about 1,367 Km in length on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, while the second segment is about 512 Km long, and is on the Hyderabad-Bengaluru Corridor.
*Digital highways refer to development of Optical Fibre Cable (OFC) network along highways for enhancing data connectivity, which is instrumental for rollout of 5G/6G facilities.
