Sterlite Power Receives Rs. 1,373 Crore Funding from PFC for Rajasthan Transmission Project

Sterlite Power has received funding for the Neemrana II-Kotputli Transmission project (NKTL) from PFCCL (Power Finance Corporation Consulting Limited) worth Rs. 1373 crore. This was stated in Sterlite Power’s press release dated 30th May 2024.

Sterlite Power was awarded this project through Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) in November 2023.

New Substation to be Built at Neemrana, 250 Km Transmission Line to be Laid

Sterlite Power will build a new substation at Neemrana with a transforming capacity of 6000MVA (four transformers of 1500MVA each), and a spare unit of 500MVA. The substation will be capable of stepping down voltage from 765KV to 400KV. This substation will be connected to an already existing substation at Kotputli through double-circuit 400KV transmission lines across 250 Km.

Additionally, a 400KV Line-In Line-Out link (LILO) will also be established to integrate the Gurgaon and Sohna substations in the new transmission system through the existing Gurgaon-Sohna line.

As per the Request for Proposals (RfP) by PFC for this project, the completion period has been specified as 24 months.

Sterlite Power will execute the project on Build, Own, Operate, and Transfer model (BOOT) for 35 years.

Sterlite Power’s 950 Km long GEC in Rajasthan

Sterlite Power is developing power transmission infrastructure to evacuate a portion of green energy from the Rajasthan Renewable Energy Zone (REZ). These transmission projects, which include the Neemrana-II Kotputli Transmission line, form Sterlite Power’s Green Energy Corridor (GEC) which spans across 950 Km.

Other RE transmission projects which are a part of Sterlite’s GEC in Rajasthan are:

  1. Fatehgarh III Beawar Transmission Ltd (Phase III, Part G) project acquired in March 2023
  2. Beawar Transmission Ltd. (Phase III, Part-F) project acquired in August 2023

Emphasising on the significance, Mr. Pratik Agarwal, MD, Sterlite Power said, “Enabling part of 7.7 GW of green power flow, the Neemrana II Kotputli Transmission Limited project is another vital cog in the machine that will accelerate the nation’s transition to a sustainable future….[and] enable access to reliable power while minimizing the impact on climate change”.
