Siemens-RVNL JV Wins Rs. 762 Cr. Electrification Contract for Bangalore Metro

Siemens-Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) Joint Venture (JV) has secured a contract worth Rs. 762 crore for electrification works on package EPC5-CC of Bangalore Metro’s Blue line. This information was shared by RVNL in its stock filing dated 10th June 2024.

Bangalore Metro’s blue line, which is 57 Km in length, has two sections, Phase 2A (Central Silk Board to Krishnarajapura) and Phase 2B (Krishnarajapura to Airport City). The JV will be executing works on both these sections.

Scope of work under this contract includes engineering, supplying, testing, and commissioning of 33 KV distribution and 750V Direct Current (DC) third rail traction electrification for Bangalore Metro’s Blue Line. This project includes establishment of traction substations, auxiliary substations, and a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system for Bangalore Metro’s Phase-2A and Phase-2B.

This project is expected to be executed in a period of about 130 weeks (approximately 2 years and 6 months).
