Siemens Launches Digital Solution for Social Distancing & Contact Tracing

Siemens has launched new IoT based digital solution to help factories and offices work more efficiently and safely during this Corona Virus Pandemic. These solutions help in maintaining social distance and contact tracing guidelines with body temperature detection integrated with access control, indoor air quality optimization and secured remote monitoring of a building’s systems.
Commenting on the launch Mr. Robert Demann, Head of Smart Infrastructure, Siemens Limited, said “The development of these solutions for the ‘new normal’ supports our ‘creating environments that care’ approach. For organizations, people are the biggest asset and they need workspaces that are safe and secure, now more than ever. Even in a post-COVID-19 era, organizations of all sizes and across industry would be required to follow health and safety regulations, in addition to keeping their premises secure”.
Siemens’ Covid Solution and the Comfy Mobile App
Solutions offered by Siemens include Comfy, a workplace app that allows building operators and management to communicate with employees remotely and keep them informed, safe, and productive. This also looks after social distancing through configurable desk assignment.

The mobile application from time to time also provides updates related to COVID-19, local needs and regulations.
Social Distancing, Contact Tracing & Sanitization with the Siemens Solution
IoT Platform offered by Siemens uses RTLS (Real-Time Location Services) which provides effective data about location of people and equipment used in the facility. For this, employees are assigned Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) identification badges while in the workplace. This helps the app to continuously record location, movement and proximity of employees relative to each other during the period they are in the building. If any employee is tested positive, the authorized system administrator can access the data of badges which came in contact with the said employee.
Sanitization schedule: when logged into the app, alerts can be sent to concerned person for the performing sanitization activity.
Motion and distance sensors installed at workstations, when configured in the app, may help in managing available space more efficiently.
HVAC and Surveillance Thermal Tracking
Siemens is additionally offering HVAC and building management systems which help in improved indoor environment quality.
Surveillance Thermal Shield measures the body temperature of a person seeking to access a building and integrates the results into the video and access systems of the company.
