SECI Floats Tender for Setting Up 4 GW Wind Energy Projects in Tamil Nadu

Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has issued a tender for the development of offshore wind energy projects with a total generation capacity of 4 GW in Tamil Nadu.

The tender specifies that the project will consist of four blocks, each with a capacity of 1 GW. The electricity generated by these projects will be directly sold to consumers, with a focus on “industries currently in the high-tariff band,” as quoted from the PIB release. The power generated through these projects will be sold to consumers under *Open Access Regime.

*Open Access Regime enables large power consumers with more than 100 KW connected load to buy relatively cheaper power directly from power producers (open market).
