Tata Power Renewable Wins 200 MW RE Project from SJVN

Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd. (TPREL), a subsidiary of Tata Power, has received a Letter of Award (LoA) from Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd. (SJVN) for developing a 200 MW Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy Project (FDRE)* in India. This plant will be a windsolar hybrid power plant.

The aforementioned project is expected to be commissioned within 24 months from the date of signing the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). TPREL has won this project through competitive bidding. This upcoming project is likely to reduce 9 lakh metric tonnes of CO2 emissions every year.

With this project win, TPREL’s Renewable Energy (RE) portfolio stands at 8,314 MW, out of which RE projects of 4,100 MW collective capacity are under development, and 4,214 MW of RE projects are operational. This operational capacity comprises 3,200 MW of solar power projects and 1,014 MW of wind power projects.

*In an FDRE plant, a battery energy storage system is integrated with the RE power generation system, which facilitates uninterrupted power supply to the grid.
