L&T Wins EPC Contract for 1,800 MW Solar and Transmission Project in Dubai

Larsen & Toubro’s Power Transmission and Distribution division has secured an EPC contract worth between Rs. 10,000 to 15,000 crore for developing a 1,800 MW solar plant in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. This project is a part of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park.

This upcoming project will cover an area of about 20 square Km and will become operational in three phases. Scope of work in this project includes establishment of two Gas Insulated (GIS) substations, medium voltage distribution networks and high voltage underground cabling. L&T will also establish related energy evacuation and interconnecting infrastructure for this project.

Further, Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for this project will be signed between Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and Masdar, a clean energy company in the UAE. DEWA will own the majority stake, i-e 60%, in this project.
