Schneider Inaugurates Cooling Factory in Bangalore; Will Invest 3,200 Cr. in India by 2026

Schneider Electric, a major automation and energy management solutions provider, inaugurated its new cooling factory in Bengaluru on 21st March 2024.

Apart from this, the company has earmarked an investment of Rs. 3,200 crore in India by 2026, which is expected to increase Schneider Electric’s presence in India.

New Factory Developed with 100 Cr. Investment, to Cater Data Centres

Schneider Electric’s Bengaluru cooling factory has been established with an investment of about Rs. 100 crore. The factory, which is spread over an area of 6.5 acre, will address the cooling requirements of data centres.

Some of the products manufactured at this facility include high-efficiency chillers and latest generation in-row cooling systems. The factory will also produce air handling solutions including Primary Air Handling Unit (PAHU), Precision Air Conditioning (PAC) and FANWALL systems.

Speaking on the inauguration, Mr. Pankaj Sharma, Executive VP, Secure Power Division & Data Center Business, Schneider Electric, said, “The data center industry is confronting significant challenges such as energy volatility. Our new factory is equipped to address these challenges by manufacturing efficient cooling solutions, thus supporting the creation of resilient and sustainable data centre infrastructures”.

Products to be Mostly Exported, Partially Satisfy Domestic Demand

About 85% of the produced goods from Schneider Electric’s Bengaluru cooling factory will be exported, while the rest will be used to satisfy domestic data centre needs.

Elaborating this point, Mr. Sachin Bhalla, VP, Schneider Electric Secure Power Division, India and SAARC, said, India’s data center industry is witnessing unprecedented growth, and our new facility is a step towards reinforcing Schneider Electric’s commitment to fostering the ecosystem while catering to the global demand”.

Through its Bengaluru cooling factory, Schneider Electric seeks to strengthen its global supply chain while promoting manufacturing in India.

New Factory First Step in Schneider Electric’s 3,200 Cr. Expansion Plan

Speaking on the Bengaluru factory’s inauguration, Mr. Deepak Sharma, President-Greater India Zone and MD & CEO, Schneider Electric India, added that the company will be investing Rs. 3,200 crore in India by 2026. This investment envisions establishment of multiple manufacturing facilities in the country, subsequently developing India as a manufacturing hub.

Mr. Sharma elaborated, “India is a significant market for us…The new factory, a part of that commitment, will go beyond manufacturing, creating jobs in Karnataka and fostering growth of the local economy”.

He added that several developments under this investment plan are in the execution phase, and will be inaugurated during 2024.
