POWERGRID Receives LoI for Transmission Project in Karnataka
Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL or POWERGRID) has received a Letter of Intent (LoI) to establish an Inter-State Transmission System for the project titled “Transmission System Strengthening at Davanagere for Integration of Renewable Energy Generation” in Karnataka. The project will be executed on a Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) basis at an estimated cost of Rs. 379 crore.
Scope of work in this project includes augmenting the transformation capacity by 4 x 500 MVA through the installation of Inter-Connecting Transformers (ICTs) of 400 KV/220 KV at Davanagere Pooling Station.
This project is expected to be completed within 24 months.
PGCIL has secured this project through Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB). The company outbid transmission sector players such as HG Infra Engineering, Techno Electric & Engineering Company, and Ramalingam Construction Company to secure this contract. REC Power Development Corporation Ltd. (RECPDCL) was the bid coordinator for the bidding process.
