Union Road Transport and Highways Minister, Nitin Gadkari announced that the Mumbai-Delhi 8-lane Greenfield Expressway will be extended upto Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT). Initially, the expressway was supposed to end in Thane district, Maharashtra. Extension of the Mumbai- Delhi Expressway shall cost around Rs 15,000 Cr.
The Expressway will have a speed limit of 120 km per hour. The 1,035 km Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is expected to be completed by 2023 and shall also reduce the distance between Mumbai and Delhi by over 220 km.
