Megha Engineering Deploys India’s First Indigenous Oil Hydraulic Rigs

Hyderabad based Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Ltd. (MEIL) commissioned India’s first indigenously developed hydraulic rigs for Oil and Gas sector on 7th April 2021. These rigs are designed with advanced hydraulic technology to drill oil wells up to a depth of 6 Km from the surface.

This first rig has been deployed at Kalol Oilfield, Gujarat, and has a capacity of 1,500 HP. Kalol Rig is part of Rs. 6,000 Cr order involving 47 drilling rigs that MEIL had secured from the state-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) in 2019.

The remaining 46 rigs are at various stages of manufacturing and are to be supplied to ONGC related oilfields in Assam, Tripura, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh.
