L&T Secures STATCOM and SCADA Orders in India, UAE, and Oman
Larsen & Toubro Ltd (L&T), through its Power Transmission & Distribution (T&D) business vertical, has secured ‘large’ grid infrastructure orders in India and overseas. L&T defines large orders as those which are valued between Rs. 2,500 crore and Rs. 5,000 crore.
In India, L&T will integrate Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems with power distribution systems of two towns. This will involve modernization of distribution transformer stations and conversion of overhead electrical lines to underground cabling in order to improve efficiency and reliability. The company, however, has not disclosed the names of the said towns.
In the UAE, L&T has won an order to design, supply, and construct two ±300 MVAr STATCOM systems, which will be installed at existing 400 KV substations to provide dynamic reactive power compensation.
Additionally, in Oman, the company has secured an order to develop a 400/132 KV grid station along with a 400 KV transmission line, further expanding its footprint in the Middle East. However, the company has not mentioned other details such as length, etc. of this transmission line segment to be laid in Oman.
