LAPP India Appoints Mr. Sumit Mitra as its Managing Director

Educational Background of Mr. Sumit Mitra, LAPP India’s Newly Appointed MD
Mr. Sumit Mitra, the newly appointed Managing Director of LAPP India, completed his schooling in 1986 at Loyola High School and Junior College in Pune. In 1992, he completed Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) degree in Electronics and Telecommunications from Maharashtra Institute of Technology. He later pursued Master of Business Administration (MBA) in 2002 from Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Calcutta.
Career Journey of Mr. Sumit Mitra
Mr. Sumit Mitra began his professional journey in 1992 as an Engineer at Thyssenkrupp. He later joined Honeywell Automation India Ltd. in 1997 as a Senior Engineer, where he worked for over three years.
In 2002, Mr. Mitra joined SRF Limited, an Indian multi-business chemicals conglomerate, as Senior Manager. He later joined Dalmia Bharat Group, where he served as Deputy General Manager from October 2003 to December 2004.
Over the course of his 32-year career, Mr. Mitra spent the longest tenure at SKF India, where he worked for 6 years and 7 months. SKF India, which began operations in India in 1923, provides leading automotive and industrial-engineered solutions. Mr. Mitra joined SKF India in 2005 as Manager of Business Development, and over time, he was promoted to Controller and Head of Human Resources in 2007. In 2008, he assumed the role of Business Unit Head for Reliability Systems and Solution Factory at SKF Ltd.
Mr. Mitra also served as Vice President of International Business and Supply Chain at NRB Bearings Ltd. for almost three years (September 2011 – July 2014). In addition, he held the position of Managing Director at NRB Bearings Europe GmbH from August 2014 to December 2015.
He briefly worked as a Management Consultant for over three years before returning to SKF Group in 2019 as Director of Industrial Business India. In this role, he also served as Director of Lubrication Management & Seals for India and Southeast Asia for three years and seven months.
